So you arrive to your Sunday River vacation rental, then what? The Sunday River area offers 4 seasons of outdoor adventure with activities for everyone. Just within the access road to Maine’s second largest ski resort you will find breathtaking vistas, famous ski bars, the Artist Covered Bridge, renown swimming holes, and a championship Golf course. In Bethel village, the hub of the area, you will find restaurants, a bowling alley, boutiques, cafes, museums and brewery’s.
The area is packed with adventure no matter what season. Grafton Notch is just 20 minutes north on rt 26. It’s also home to a piece of the Appalachian Trail, with great hiking, cycling, camping, and swimming. Take to the calm waters of one of the crystal clear lakes in the Greenwood area where you can rent kayaks. Bethel offers great single track mountain biking at the Pine Hills Trails or Bethel Village Trails at the Bethel Inn. Or tackle on of the areas many hiking trails.
In winter, the adventure only continues. With Sunday River boasting 8 peaks and more than 120 trails, there is endless skiing and riding. Off mountain there are plenty of opportunities for snowshoeing, cross country skiing, dog sledding, snowmobiling, and more.
